My entry in the 2nd annual Tweet Day of the Dead show. It's made out of old wooden window blinds, wood trim from home depot and lots of sclupey.

This is the front and back cover of a 7 inch single I did for the Woggles a couple of years ago. This was an early attempt of mine to do something in a similar style to Langston Hughes. I stold the marquee design from an old Gene Deitch drawing. Sorry Gene. If you get a chance, check out Gene's book, Cat on a Hot Thin Groove. It's a collection of the Jazz cartoons he did for Record Changer magazine during the 40's and 50's. Another cool book that I look at frequently for inspiration is Langston Hughes' First Book of Jazz. Great stuff.
Here's something older. I did this for The White Lights reunion show in Nov '04. This was a band I was in for a few years. I remember when I was working on this I didn't want to get hung up on getting an exact likeness of everyone, so I drew everyone from memory. The only one I think I cheated on was Johnny V. (the guy sitting playing the guitar). I just couldn't get him right, so I looked at a couple of photo's. This one was fun to do.
Okay. Here's the last pic from the Skull Show. I haven't done any "real" painting in quite awhile, years actually, so the two color pieces were both painted very flat. Mostly gauche and a little acrylic. I was feeling a little intimidated, but I was also a little pressed for time. For what they are and the amount time I put into them I thought they turned out okay. I'm sure in a few months I'll wonder "what the hell was I thinking"?
Hello.
